A few posts back we gave our readers 3 apartment searching tips. Today, we are here to bring you 3 more that could potentially make your next year smoother or bring up a bag of troubles.
What are the advantages of owning a home during tax seasons?
Many of us would prefer to find an apartment as soon as possible and save ourselves the trouble of looking at 5 other locations. However, just because you want to quickly find a place and be stress-free – it doesn’t mean you should sign the first apartment you find. Planning your next apartment correctly is critical to finding your perfect place.
2. Not Reading the Lease.
Much like our previous point, many of us would like to sign on the dotted line as soon as possible. One critical mistake of many renters are people who do not read the entire lease. A lease is a legal contract and it is always recommended to read the entire contract. If you are not comfortable reading the complete document, as a friend, family member or building manager to go through the fine print with you.
3. Forgetting to Factor in Your Commute.
Saving money is great. Paying less for a good apartment is even better. However, if this apartment is cheaper than your plan B, make sure to check on your commute distance. Keep in mind that the farther you are from your office, the more time and money you have to spend on gas and driving. Sometimes, you could actually save more money by opting for the closer, more expensive option.
