Tips to Transitioning from Summer to Fall

Tips to Transitioning from Summer to Fall Season

With summer coming to a close, we would like to share with you some tips to get your apartment ready for the fall season. With the school year starting and the weather cooling down, converting your space to a more autumn-friendly setup will allow you further enjoy the season.

Update Colors

Bright colors worked great for the summer. Fall is the time for warm, rich, and cozy colors. Hues of chocolate brown and golden yellow to burnt orange and lipstick red would work perfectly for the season-inspired decorations. Things like dish towels, vases, sofa pillows, and bedsheets can be switched out pretty easily and can really help make your apartment feel cozier for the cooler fall days.

Clothing Swap

Lucky for us in Santa Barbara, we can get away with rocking flip flops and tank tops throughout the year. But to prepare for the colder stretches in the fall season, it smart to put away some summer clothes and get out the sweaters and boots.

Fall Cleaning

Like spring cleaning, the summer to fall transition is a great time to do a really thorough cleaning of your apartment. If you had your windows open a lot during the summer, your window treatments may have gotten pretty dirty. It is a good idea to give them a good cleaning so you don’t trap that dust in your apartment when it gets colder.

More Lighting

The days will start getting shorter, so you may want to add some small lamps or accent lighting. Battery-powered tea lights are an easy and inexpensive way to add a little light to different areas of your apartment.

Switch Your Ceiling Fan Rotation

It can be helpful to have fans circulating heated air on cold days, but you’ll want to switch the rotation of the blades. When fans are rotating in a clockwise direction they push warm air down and cool air up.
